  93. Description
  94. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  95. This command mounts an archive as a FUSE filesystem. This can be useful
  96. for browsing an archive or restoring individual files. When restoring,
  97. take into account that the current FUSE implementation does not support
  98. special fs flags and ACLs.
  99. Unless the ``--foreground`` option is given the command will run in the
  100. background until the filesystem is ``umounted``.
  101. The command ``borgfs`` provides a wrapper for ``borg mount``. This can also be
  102. used in fstab entries:
  103. ``/path/to/repo /mnt/point fuse.borgfs defaults,noauto 0 0``
  104. To allow a regular user to use fstab entries, add the ``user`` option:
  105. ``/path/to/repo /mnt/point fuse.borgfs defaults,noauto,user 0 0``
  106. For FUSE configuration and mount options, see the mount.fuse(8) manual page.
  107. Borg's default behavior is to use the archived user and group names of each
  108. file and map them to the system's respective user and group ids.
  109. Alternatively, using ``numeric-ids`` will instead use the archived user and
  110. group ids without any mapping.
  111. The ``uid`` and ``gid`` mount options (implemented by Borg) can be used to
  112. override the user and group ids of all files (i.e., ``borg mount -o
  113. uid=1000,gid=1000``).
  114. The man page references ``user_id`` and ``group_id`` mount options
  115. (implemented by fuse) which specify the user and group id of the mount owner
  116. (aka, the user who does the mounting). It is set automatically by libfuse (or
  117. the filesystem if libfuse is not used). However, you should not specify these
  118. manually. Unlike the ``uid`` and ``gid`` mount options which affect all files,
  119. ``user_id`` and ``group_id`` affect the user and group id of the mounted
  120. (base) directory.
  121. Additional mount options supported by borg:
  122. - ``versions``: when used with a repository mount, this gives a merged, versioned
  123. view of the files in the archives. EXPERIMENTAL, layout may change in future.
  124. - ``allow_damaged_files``: by default damaged files (where missing chunks were
  125. replaced with runs of zeros by ``borg check --repair``) are not readable and
  126. return EIO (I/O error). Set this option to read such files.
  127. - ``ignore_permissions``: for security reasons the ``default_permissions`` mount
  128. option is internally enforced by borg. ``ignore_permissions`` can be given to
  129. not enforce ``default_permissions``.
  130. The BORG_MOUNT_DATA_CACHE_ENTRIES environment variable is meant for advanced users
  131. to tweak the performance. It sets the number of cached data chunks; additional
  132. memory usage can be up to ~8 MiB times this number. The default is the number
  133. of CPU cores.
  134. When the daemonized process receives a signal or crashes, it does not unmount.
  135. Unmounting in these cases could cause an active rsync or similar process
  136. to delete data unintentionally.
  137. When running in the foreground ^C/SIGINT unmounts cleanly, but other
  138. signals or crashes do not.
