  31. .SH NAME
  32. borgfs \- Mount archive or an entire repository as a FUSE filesystem
  33. .SH SYNOPSIS
  34. .sp
  35. borgfs [options] MOUNTPOINT [PATH...]
  36. .SH DESCRIPTION
  37. .sp
  38. This command mounts an archive as a FUSE filesystem. This can be useful for
  39. browsing an archive or restoring individual files. Unless the \fB\-\-foreground\fP
  40. option is given the command will run in the background until the filesystem
  41. is \fBumounted\fP\&.
  42. .sp
  43. The command \fBborgfs\fP provides a wrapper for \fBborg mount\fP\&. This can also be
  44. used in fstab entries:
  45. \fB/path/to/repo /mnt/point fuse.borgfs defaults,noauto 0 0\fP
  46. .sp
  47. To allow a regular user to use fstab entries, add the \fBuser\fP option:
  48. \fB/path/to/repo /mnt/point fuse.borgfs defaults,noauto,user 0 0\fP
  49. .sp
  50. For FUSE configuration and mount options, see the mount.fuse(8) manual page.
  51. .sp
  52. Borg\(aqs default behavior is to use the archived user and group names of each
  53. file and map them to the system\(aqs respective user and group ids.
  54. Alternatively, using \fBnumeric\-ids\fP will instead use the archived user and
  55. group ids without any mapping.
  56. .sp
  57. The \fBuid\fP and \fBgid\fP mount options (implemented by Borg) can be used to
  58. override the user and group ids of all files (i.e., \fBborg mount \-o
  59. uid=1000,gid=1000\fP).
  60. .sp
  61. The man page references \fBuser_id\fP and \fBgroup_id\fP mount options
  62. (implemented by fuse) which specify the user and group id of the mount owner
  63. (aka, the user who does the mounting). It is set automatically by libfuse (or
  64. the filesystem if libfuse is not used). However, you should not specify these
  65. manually. Unlike the \fBuid\fP and \fBgid\fP mount options which affect all files,
  66. \fBuser_id\fP and \fBgroup_id\fP affect the user and group id of the mounted
  67. (base) directory.
  68. .sp
  69. Additional mount options supported by borg:
  70. .INDENT 0.0
  71. .IP \(bu 2
  72. versions: when used with a repository mount, this gives a merged, versioned
  73. view of the files in the archives. EXPERIMENTAL, layout may change in future.
  74. .IP \(bu 2
  75. allow_damaged_files: by default damaged files (where missing chunks were
  76. replaced with runs of zeros by borg check \fB\-\-repair\fP) are not readable and
  77. return EIO (I/O error). Set this option to read such files.
  78. .IP \(bu 2
  79. ignore_permissions: for security reasons the "default_permissions" mount
  80. option is internally enforced by borg. "ignore_permissions" can be given to
  81. not enforce "default_permissions".
  82. .UNINDENT
  83. .sp
  84. The BORG_MOUNT_DATA_CACHE_ENTRIES environment variable is meant for advanced users
  85. to tweak the performance. It sets the number of cached data chunks; additional
  86. memory usage can be up to ~8 MiB times this number. The default is the number
  87. of CPU cores.
  88. .sp
  89. When the daemonized process receives a signal or crashes, it does not unmount.
  90. Unmounting in these cases could cause an active rsync or similar process
  91. to unintentionally delete data.
  92. .sp
  93. When running in the foreground ^C/SIGINT unmounts cleanly, but other
  94. signals or crashes do not.
  95. .SH OPTIONS
  96. .sp
  97. See \fIborg\-common(1)\fP for common options of Borg commands.
